The victorious life of every child of God is rooted in the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. The blood is what gives us victory over all the battles of life. Apostle Paul in his second letter to the brethren in Corinth said, “Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place”. 2 Corinthian 2:14 . It’s apparent from this scripture that the redemptive work of Jesus on the cross of cavalry positions us for endless triumph. There is no exception. We are designed to come out victorious in all the battles of life; “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.” 1 John 5:4. Overcoming is the trade mark of every born again child of God. Therefore I see you overcoming in Jesus name. Your triumph will be so neat and perfect that when you tell people the troubles you passed through, they would hardly believe you. There will be nothing missing and nothing broken in your victory in the mighty name of Jesus. The Psalmist said “ Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all. He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken. Psalms 34:19,20. Just in case you have not got it yet, I decree and declare according to the word of God that you will overcome every battle of life without a single scar. ‘Nothing missing, nothing broken in the mighty name of Jesus.’ If you believe the word of God say amen to that.
The bible is replete with stories that illustrate the power of the blood of Jesus. The first reference to the blood in scriptures that readily comes to mind is in Genesis chapter 3, just after the fall of man. Read the following passage, paying close attention to the events that led to the fall of man and what God did afterward.
Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden. And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou? And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.
21: Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them. Genesis 3:1-10,21
The trouble of man started from the very day he disobeyed God. It is obvious from this scripture that sin makes man vulnerable to the devil. Sin exposes man to the attack of the devil. And this is so much in line with the scripture that says “…and whoso breaketh an hedge, a serpent shall bite him.” Ecclesiastics 10:8. I have always told members of my church and those that come around me that obedience to God’s commandments does not do God any favor, neither does disobedience hurt Him. When you obey God’s commandment you are only helping yourself, and when you disobey you only hurt yourself. The disobedience of our first parent did not only cost them the Garden of Eden, it placed them at the mercy of the devil. My prayer for you today is that God will deliver you from whatever wants to take you from your place in God. You will not be a victim of the deceits of the enemy. I pray that God will deliver you from every imminent action that will give the devil access into your life.
When Adam and Eve discovered that they were naked, the bible says they made aprons out of fig leaves and covered their nakedness, at least they thought they did. But when God came looking for them, they ran and hid themselves. Why were they hiding? Adam said “because I was naked and I hid myself”. Adam, like so many people today, was trying to solve a spiritual problem carnally. It’s also quite ironic that instead of running to God, his maker, and the solution to all his problems, he was running and hiding from God. But God in His infinite love and mercy went after him. “ And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?”. My prayer for you today is that you will hear the call of God. When God ‘found’ Adam, the bible says, “Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.” My prayer for you is that God himself will cover your nakedness. God will deliver you from every shame and embarrassment the devil has planned for you. God will do for you what you cannot do for yourself in the mighty name of Jesus.
We have to recognize at this point that the coats of skins that clothed Adam and Eve came at the cost of blood. God killed an animal and skinned it. This act by God foreshadows the redemptive work of our Lord Jesus Christ on the cross of cavalry. Leviticus 17:11 says, “For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.” Without the blood we are separate from God and absolutely vulnerable and weak. Take a closer look at the word atone, which is the root word for atonement and you will notice that atonement is when God and man is ‘at one’. It’s the blood that gives you the wisdom, power, understanding, faith etc, of God. It’s the shed blood of Jesus Christ that removes every barrier between you and God. In Matthew 27:50,51, we are told that as soon as Jesus yielded up the ghost, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from top to bottom. You and I now have access into the fullness of God because of his death. Therefore, I pray that by the blood of Jesus, everything standing between you and the fullness of God be removed now in the mighty name of Jesus. The might of God will be your might. The wisdom of God will be your wisdom. From this day forward, the resources of heaven will be yours in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
The book of Exodus, chapters 11 and12 also gives us an illustration of the power of the blood. The children of Israel were under the bondage of Pharaoh who was at that time the strongest king on earth. In spite of the prosperity of the children of Israel, it was humanly impossible for them to get deliverance. The Egyptians were determined to keep them in captivity. The following scripture gives us some understanding of the nature of the pain and agony the Israelites went through in Egypt: “Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom and Raamses. But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were grieved because of the children of Israel. And the Egyptians made the children of Israel to serve with rigour.” Exodus 1:11-13. There are so many people under the same kind of yoke today, Christians and non Christians alike. They build houses that they will not enjoy. Like Peter who toiled all night but had nothing to show to show for it, they have worked so hard under the task master with nothing to show. They are continually under the surveillance and affliction of the task master. Although, they were the covenant children of God, they saw hell in the hand of Pharaoh. When they eventually recognized that there was no way they could get their deliverance except God intervenes, they started groaning and crying to God for help.
I strongly believe one of the reasons the children of Israel experienced this ordeal was because they were deceived by the initial welcome and comfort the land of Egypt afforded them that they started losing their place in God. My prayer for you is that no amount of comfort or prosperity will make you slack in your commitment to serve God. God is constantly committed to increase us. His concern is whether the blessings will take us away from Him or bring us closer to Him? Listen to this:
For the LORD thy God bringeth thee into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and hills; A land of wheat, and barley, and vines, and fig trees, and pomegranates; a land of oil olive, and honey; A land wherein thou shalt eat bread without scarceness, thou shalt not lack any thing in it; a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills thou mayest dig brass. When thou hast eaten and art full, then thou shalt bless the LORD thy God for the good land which he hath given thee. Beware that thou forget not the LORD thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day: Lest when thou hast eaten and art full, and hast built goodly houses, and dwelt therein; And when thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied; Then thine heart be lifted up, and thou forget the LORD thy God, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage;
Can God trust you with His resources? Will you continue to give him His number one position when He prospers you? Is God number one in your life right now? Or are you planning to make him number one when He meets all your needs? Ask yourself these questions and make a commitment to make adjustments where necessary and I see God releasing His unlimited blessings upon you in the mighty name of Jesus.
When the children of Israel recovered themselves in the Lord and cried unto Him, the bible says God Himself came down to help: “And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows; And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey…” Exodus 3:7,8. I may not know the challenges you are passing through right now, but I know that the same God that came down to deliver the children of Israel out of Egypt is here to deliver you. God will not only deliver you, he will also give you favor such that you will recover everything the enemy has stolen from you all these years.
We are talking about the power of the blood, therefore I would like you to recognize at this junction that although God came down to deliver Israel, it was not until the blood of Jesus was symbolically shed that Pharaoh was compelled to let Israel go. “And the LORD said unto Moses, Yet will I bring one plague more upon Pharaoh, and upon Egypt; afterwards he will let you go hence: when he shall let you go, he shall surely thrust you out hence altogether.” Exodus 11:1. The last plague that resulted in the deliverance of Israel did not come until God had commanded them to sacrifice the Passover lamb. When Israel did what God instructed them to do the result was that God personally took over the battle: “ And it came to pass, that at midnight the LORD smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle. And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt; for there was not a house where there was not one dead. And he called for Moses and Aaron by night, and said, Rise up, and get you forth from among my people, both ye and the children of Israel; and go, serve the LORD, as ye have said. Also take your flocks and your herds, as ye have said, and be gone; and bless me also. And the Egyptians were urgent upon the people, that they might send them out of the land in haste; for they said, We be all dead men”. Exodus 12:29-33
As you begin to understand and apply the power in the shed blood of Jesus, I pray that God himself will afflict your enemies. Every force of darkness that has held you or any of your blessings bond is compelled to release them now in the mighty name of Jesus. Just as Pharaoh was urgent to let Israel go, the powers of darkness militating against your progress would be urgent to let you go.
The shed blood of Jesus is your most powerful weapon for a turn around. Because of the blood, although they went to bed as slaves, they woke up the next morning free. It was the power in the blood that made a people that were so dejected and hopeless become celebrities; “And the LORD gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians. Moreover the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh’s servants, and in the sight of the people.” Exodus 11:3. This is a rare kind of favor because, first, it made the very people that have exploited them to turn around and freely give to the children of Israel jewels of gold and jewels of silver. I strongly believe Egypt has not yet recovered from the loss they suffered from this single act of favor God gave to Israel. They more or less emptied all their bank accounts and gave their wealth to Israel. As if this was not ‘bad’ enough, as they were leaving the land Pharaoh was begging for their blessing.
One thing I so much like about God is that He is not a respecter of persons. All you need to do is meet the conditions and the blessings will be yours:“ God is no respecter of persons: But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.” Acts 10:32,35. The God that did it for the children of Israel will do it for you. Those that have despised you in the past will ask for your blessings. You will receive the kind of favor that will make you retrieve all that you have lost to the devil. I pray that God will turn every element of mockery in your life unto His glory. An understanding of the power of the blood and its appropriation are the conditions we need to meet in this case, and I hope you are getting it.
The power of the blood is the key you need to open up your glorious destiny. The blessings of the Lord upon your life not withstanding, until you understand the power in the blood and engages it, nothing will happen. Even in heaven, the blood is the master key. Read carefully the next passage of scripture and you will understand what I am talking about.
And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals. And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof? And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon. And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon. And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof. And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth. And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne.
The weeping continued until his attention was drawn to the lamb that was slain. The elder drew his attention to the blood and his weeping ceased, even so, by reason of the revelation you are getting today I decree that your weeping has come to an end in the mighty name of Jesus. By the blood of Jesus that was shed on the cross of cavalry I declare the opening up of that your colorful destiny in the mighty name of Jesus. When Jesus said, “It is finished”, shortly before he gave up the ghost, he truly meant that he has completely paid the price that will enable you and I live the life of endless victory. Revelation 12:11 say “And they overcame him by the blood of the lamb….” From this day forward you will never know defeat. The strength of God will be your strength in the mighty name of Jesus.
Thank you for reading through this article and may the blessings you have received so far be evident in your life in Jesus name. At this point however, I would like you to make out time to pray, using these prayer points as your guide. Remember that it was when God heard the cry of the children of Israel that He came down. God will come down for your sake. The blood of our Lord Jesus will avail for you as you pray.
- Father, let the blood of the lamb avail for me. Cover every hedge that has been open to the enemy. Remove my shame.
- Father, restore my vision. Draw me unto you.
- Father, by the blood of Jesus Christ, deliver me from servitude and slavery. Deliver me from fruitless labor.
- Father, by the blood of Jesus, make even my enemies show me favor. Destroy every spell of disfavor. Give me a new beginning.
- Father, by the blood of Jesus, let all my enemies be scattered. Let them be destroyed by their own devices.
- Father, by the blood of Jesus, give me a open heaven of your blessing: wisdom, understanding, favor, faith and fill me up with your spirit.
- Father, by the blood of Jesus, let your wisdom be my wisdom, let your might be my might, let your spirit take over me in the name of Jesus.
